About Akimiski Island Reserve
Akimiski island reserve was founded in 2015, a fairly new national park. This piece of land is a untouched island. The island boasts a large bird sanctuary, many different types of bears, birds, and other animals, and beautiful beaches where you can go swimming in the waters of James Bay.

To go to the island, you will need to take a ferry from Moosonee or Moose Factory towards the reserve. Then there will roads/shuttles to the hotel or campgrounds. There are special types of roads built purely for the conservation of the surrounding landscape. Upon arrival, you will be seen to your room/camp site.
