The forest of Akimiski Island is quite dense and consists mainly of coniferous trees like spruce and tamarack, with some deciduous trees like maple and birch. However, the dominant vegetation is lichens, mosses, and shrubs in the bogs, marshes and swamps.
The more northern on the island you go, the thinner the vegetation, same vice-verca. |
